Key Changes

• English language exemption for those applicants who receive a salary over $96,400.
• All applicants will be granted 2 year-4 year validity.
• All applicants including family members are required to give a police clearance certificate.
• Incase applicants fall in the high salary bracket they are required to take the language proficiency test.
• If the applicant is on a sponsored skilled permit the language test scores should be 6.0 in all components.
• Reviews will be considered from the Medium & Long Term Strategic Skills List and from the Short Term Skilled Occupations list the review will be further reviewed by the Department of Education & Training. These reviews would carry more Weight.
• Sub-Class 189 is for New Zealanders they would get to accommodate themselves for at least five years of they also meet the minimum income need.
• Sub Classes 189 and Subclass 186 will have an age restriction. Subclass 189 has a point based need with an age requirement of 45 years. Subclass 186 is a direct stream has the same age requirement.
• Passenger cards will be replaced by other means to gather information from travelers.
