Production or Plant Engineer

Job Description

Plans directs and coordinates the design, construction, modification, continued performance and maintenance of equipment and machines in industrial plants, and in the management and planning of manufacturing activities.

Production or plant engineers usually work indoors in factories. They may also spend time in the office, or outdoors if working on construction projects.

Work out standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

Inspect plant and machinery to ensure optimum performance.

Direct the maintenance of plant buildings and equipment and coordinate the requirements for new designs, surveys and maintenance schedules.

Prepare contracts and specifications for construction and the acquisition of facilities.

Schedule and plan production activities.

Test newly installed machines and equipment to make sure they comply with requirements and specifications.
