Saskatchewan to do away with the annual immigration cap

Saskatchewan has decided to do away with the annual immigration cap through the SINP (Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program). The news follows Saskatchewan’s transition to an EOI system for its Occupations In-demand and Express Entry categories.

Earlier, Saskatchewan would publish the number of Visa places available annually. The province would also update the number of Visa places left regularly.

The annual immigration cap was in place for the below categories:

The SINP website states that from 3rd March 2020, Saskatchewan would no longer use an application intake threshold.

Saskatchewan has already issued 545 invitation so far in 2020. The 7th January draw invited 42 candidates under the Entrepreneur stream.

Saskatchewan also significantly expanded its eligible occupation list from 19 to 218 last year.

Process for Saskatchewan Expression of Interest

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest profile
  2. The candidate is placed in the Saskatchewan EOI pool
  3. Saskatchewan selects EOI candidates
  4. Invites are sent out through regular draws
  5. Invited candidates submit a completed application within 60 days
  6. SINP reviews the applications and makes a decision
