Another Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program draw has been held – through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program [SINP] – on March 11, 2021.

Saskatchewan is among the 9 provinces and 2 territories that are a part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP]. With nearly 80 Canada immigration pathways or ‘streams’ available, the PNP of Canada offers a diverse range in options for a prospective immigrant.

A nomination, through any of the PNP-linked Express Entry streams, fetches that candidate 600 additional points towards their ranking score. That is, CRS 600 points are automatically allotted to a provincial nominee.

Hence, a PNP nomination guarantees an Express Entry candidate being issued an invitation to apply by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] in the subsequent federal draw to be held.

It is only the highest-ranked Express Entry profiles – based on their CRS scores – that are invited by IRCC to apply for their Canadian permanent residence.

SINP’s Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand are streams that come under the category of International Skilled Worker.

Saskatchewan PNP Express Entry is targeted at skilled workers that have their profiles in the federal Express Entry system and intend living and working in Saskatchewan after being granted their Canada PR. They must also meet the specific eligibility criteria as well.

The Occupations In-Demand stream of the SINP, on the other hand, is for skilled workers that though don’t have a job offer in Saskatchewan but are nonetheless highly-skilled in an in-demand occupation. They must also meet the eligibility criteria applicable.

The SINP criteria is subject to change. However, in situations where there has been a change at a later date, the SINP will assess the application against the criteria on the website when the SINP first got the application.

To be considered by the SINP for Saskatchewan immigration, candidates under the SINP Canada streams of Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand must begin the process with the creation of their Expression of Interest [EOI] profile with the SINP.

What is meant by SINP’s EOI score?
Following successful registration with the SINP, a score – based on the “SINP point assessment grid” – is allotted to the candidates. This is the SINP EOI score of that candidate.   Factors assessed ·         Factor I: Labour Market Success [Education and Training, Skilled Work Experience, Language Ability, Age] [maximum points – 80], and ·         Factor II: Connection to Saskatchewan Labour Market & Adaptability [maximum points – 30]. Out of the 110 total points [Factor 1 + Factor II], the candidate will have to score “at least 60 to apply”.

Typically, Saskatchewan Canada PNPdraws are held on a bi-monthly basis.

The section of EOIs is limited occupation-wise in order to ensure that “nominees with positive employment prospects in Saskatchewan are selected and nominations do not exceed employment demand”.
