The latest round of invitations by Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program [MPNP] was held on October 22, 2020. In MPNP’s Expression of Interest [EOI] Draw #101, a total of 206 invitations have been issued.

Those invited can now proceed to applying to the MPNP for a provincial nomination.

Of the 206 Letters of Advice to Apply [LAAs] issued by the MPNP, 22 went to Express Entry candidates. A provincial nomination through a provincial or territorial [PT] government is a guarantee of the Express Entry candidate being issued an Invitation to Apply [ITA] in the subsequent federal Express Entry system.

On being successful in securing a provincial nomination through Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP], the Express Entry candidate is allotted 600 additional points towards their ranking score, that is, their Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] scores. The higher the CRS, the sooner the candidate can expect to be invited by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] to apply for Canada PR.

EOI Draw #101 - Date of Draw – October 22, 2020 - Total LAAs issued: 206*
Category Letters of Advice to Apply [LAAs] sent Minimum EOI score required
Skilled Workers Overseas 15 Directly invited under Strategic Recruitment Initiative. 771
Skilled Workers in Manitoba 161 375
International Education Stream 30 No EOI score required.

*- Of these, 22 LAAs went to candidates that had “declared a valid Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code”.

According to the MPNP, “Candidates who indicated that they are working in a regulated occupation and are fully licensed to work in Manitoba have been selected in this draw”.

It is through the MPNP categories of Skilled Workers in Manitoba and Skilled Workers Overseas that Manitoba nominates skilled workers that have the most potential of successfully supporting the labour market requirements of the province.

While there is no requirement of being physically present in Manitoba at the time of applying to the MPNP, foreign workers applying from abroad are required to have an established connection to Manitoba.

For 2020, the MPNP has an allotment of 5,000 base nominations, along with 875 Express Entry spaces.

Manitoba has issued a total of 4,097 LAAs in 2020 so far.
