Generally, a tie-breaking rule is usually applied by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] in Express Entry draws. In the latest Express Entry draw held on February 13, 2021, the tie-breaking rule was that of September 12, 2020 at 15:31:40 UTC.
The tie-breaking rule is only applicable to profiles that have the minimum required ranking score. As per IRCC, “If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.”
The 27,332 ITAs issued were nearly 6 times more than the largest Express Entry draws ever held by IRCC. Between November 18 and December 23, 2020, as many as 5,000 ITAs were issued in each of the draws held.
The score requirement of CRS 75 is the lowest ever. Earlier, the minimum CRS required in any Express Entry draw was that of CRS 199 in the May 16, 2017 draw.
Canada plans on welcoming 401,000 new immigrants in 2021. Of these, 108,500 will be through the Express Entry system. In 2022, another 110,500 will acquire their permanent residence in Canada through the Express Entry.
For 2023, the Express Entry will be the route to Canada for 113,750.
