Canada invites 671 PNP candidates in latest EE draw

Express Entry draw

In the latest round of invitations held under the Express Entry system, another 671 Canada immigration hopefuls have received invitations on March 8, 2021.

As the draw specifically targeted provincial nominees that had secured a nomination through Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program [PNP], the minimum ranking score required – as per the Comprehensive Ranking System [CRS] – was on the higher side, that is, CRS 739.

A PNP nomination automatically adds 600 ‘additional’ CRS points, thereby significantly improving the ranking of the candidate in the Express Entry pool. For example, if an Express Entry candidate has a CRS 87 based on their human capital factors [such as age, education, work experience etc.], a PNP nomination will take them to CRS 687 [87 human capital factors score + 600 PNP nomination = 687 in total].

Only candidates with a provincial nomination were eligible for the latest federal Express Entry draw.

Canada’s PNP allows provincial and territorial [PT] governments to nominate individuals – that they find to have the most potential for thriving within their province/territory –for Canadian PR.

Acquiring Candian permanent residence through the PNP of Canada is a 2-step process. The first part of the process is that of securing a PNP nomination. The second part involves applying to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] for permanent residence in Canada.

There are almost 80 immigration pathways available under the PNP, many linked with the federal Express Entry system.

Applicable to profiles that have the minimum required ranking score, the tie-breaking rule gives precedence to Express Entry profiles created earlier as compared to those created at a later date.

Of the total 401,000 newcomers to be welcomed by Canada in 2021, a majority – that is, 108,500 – will be through the Express Entry system. Another 80,800 will gain their Canadian permanent residence through the PNP route.
