British Columbia makes BC PNP Tech Pilot permanent

BC PNP Tech pilot project to become a permanent program

In a latest and notable update related to the Provincial Nominee Program [PNP] of Canada, the province of British Columbia has “extended indefinitely and renamed” the BC PNP Tech Pilot.

Earlier known as the British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot, the same is now to be referred to as BC PNP Tech.

Operating within the existing categories of Express Entry BC [EEBC] and Skills Immigration [SI], BC PNP Tech provides tech employers within the province the ability to recruit as well as retain international talent wherever local skilled workers are unavailable.

The current Pilot’s extension was to have expired on June 30, 2021.

The province of British Columbia in Canada is expected to have 861,000 job openings between 2019 to 2029.

A prioritized and expedited pathway, BC PNP Tech offers individuals – in any of the 29 tech occupations – a pathway to Canada immigration, along with an opportunity to work towards contributing to the shared prosperity of British Columbia.

While the BC PNP Tech Pilot was to run until June 2021, with the latest announcement the Pilot has been turned into a permanent BC PNP immigration pathway instead.

So far, 6,000+ tech workers have been nominated by the BC PNP for permanent residence in Canada through the BC PNP Tech Pilot.

To be eligible for BC PNP Tech, an individual must have a job offer in Canada in –

·       Any of the 29 tech occupations,

·       For a minimum of 365 days, and

·       With at least 120 days of the job offer remaining

at the time of applying to the BC PNP.

As per the BC PNP, “weekly invitations” are to be issued to qualified registrants.

In order to be issued an ITA under BC PNP Tech, the Canadian employer as well as the individual must meet “all program requirements at the time of registration”.

Typically, processing time for 80% of BC PNP applications is within 3 months from the date of application submission.
