On February 02, 2023, Ontario PNP draw was held and invited 1,902 candidates out of which 1,127 were Tech candidates and 775 were healthcare workers. This draw was held under the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program under the new Human Capital Priorities Stream. These candidates are eligible to apply for a provincial nomination which supports their permanent residency application, if they meet the eligibility criteria.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) associated with the Express Entry system, automatically adds 600 points additional points towards candidates overall score if they get nominated.

These Express Entry candidates invited in this draw should have a minimum of one year experience in any of the above occupations listed in order to receive the provincial nomination. If the candidates are nominated under this or the Express Entry-linked PNP, then they will directly placed in the front line to receive the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Role of provincial nominations in getting ITAs for Express Entry candidates

Express Entry candidates who received the PNP nomination will receive an additional 600 CRS points to their overall score. This guarantees them to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw. IRCC allots points to the candidates in the Express Entry pool of candidates based on the following factors:

• Age
• Work experience
• Education
• Language ability in English or French
• Other factors

The candidates with the highest points are invited to apply in the Express Entry draws.
