Residence in New Zealand
If you wish to migrate to New Zealand, you need to apply to the New Zealand Immigration Service for resident status.
Resident status in New Zealand entitles you to live, study and work indefinitely in New Zealand.
General Skills Category
The General Skills category is a points based system. Applicants score points for a number of factors such as
offer of skilled employment, qualifications, work experience,
English language ability, age who has the skills to contribute
to New Zealand's needs and growth opportunities.
Investor Category
The Investor category is a points based system. Applicants score points for factors such as
funds to invest, business experience, English language ability and age.
Entrepreneur Category
The Entrepreneur category is available to those applicants who have successfully established a business in New Zealand
and:
- have established or purchased, or made a substantial
investment in a business operating in New Zealand; and
- have been self-employed in New Zealand in that business for at
least two years.
Be deemed as benefiting New Zealand if it promotes New
Zealand's economic growth by:
- introduction of new technology, management or technical
skills; or
- introduction of new products or services; or
- development of new export markets or increased market access;
or
- creation of new job opportunities; or
- revitalization of an existing business
Family Category
The Family category is available to those applicants who:
- are in a genuine and stable marriage or de facto relationship (whether heterosexual or same sex) with a New Zealand citizen or resident;
or
- have immediate family members who are New Zealand citizens or residents and who are living permanently in New Zealand.
