The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) provides an alternative and quicker route into Canada.

Saskatchewan province nominates applicants, who qualify under criteria established by the province, to the federal government for landed immigrant status. The SINP selects applicants who have the skills and abilities to meet the province's needs.

The applicants who are nominated possess either an offer of permanent full-time employment in Saskatchewan in an occupation/trade in Saskatchewan, or an offer of permanent full-time employment in a management position, or has worked in Saskatchewan for at least six months on a temporary work permit in a designated occupation.  


Saskatchewan Nomination Schemes


Applicants wishing to reside and work in province may apply under one of the below seven categories


Skilled Workers


This category is for skilled workers, professionals or managers who have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.  It is divided into three sub-categories:  Skilled Workers/Professionals, Critical Occupations and Existing Work Permit.

To be eligible to apply under the SINP Skilled Workers Category, the applicant:

  • Must live outside of Canada or have proof of legal status in Canada,
  • Must have offer of permanent, full-time employment in Saskatchewan either in an occupation or trade in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Matrix level "A" or "B", or in a designated trade in Saskatchewan (Skilled Workers/Professionals Sub-Category);
  • Must have an offer of permanent, full-time employment in Saskatchewan in a management position in the NOC Matrix level "0" (Critical Occupations Sub-Category); or
  • Should have worked in Saskatchewan for at least six months on a temporary work permit either in an occupation or trade that is in the NOC Matrix level "A" or "B", or in a designated trade in Saskatchewan (Existing Work Permit Sub-Category).

Refugee claimants, live-in caregivers, workers under Arts and Entertainment Exemptions, and foreign workers in Low-Skilled Occupations Pilot Project are not eligible for SINP.


Entrepreneurs


Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), is designed to help entrepreneurs establish their businesses in Saskatchewan. Business persons with proven experience in managing business may qualify if their proposed business would be a significant benefit to the Saskatchewan economy.

Applicants must have:

  • 3+ years of business ownership or senior management experience
  • personal net worth of $250,000(CAD)
  • an investment of CDN $150,000 should be made into starting a new business or buying outright an existing business, and have an active management role in the day-to-day operation of the business;
  • at least 33.3% stake of the business in Saskatchewan (with a minimum investment of CDN $150,000  or make an investment of a minimum of CDN $1 million into the business, if the applicant does not own 33.3% of the business.
  • business proposal plan or relocation and settlement plan
  • visit Saskatchewan for at least 5 working days to attend a visitation seminar and interview with a SINP Business Immigration Officer
  • deposit of $75,000(CAD) and sign a performance agreement

Long Haul Truck Drivers


This category allows Saskatchewan trucking firms to recruit workers to the province for occupations requiring a high school diploma or on-the-job training under Service Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker policy.

Candidates migrating to Saskatchewan via this Long Haul Truck Drivers category require temporary employment offers from Saskatchewan based haulage firms and must also hold a Canadian work permit. They must also:


  • Posses a valid truck licence, the same as a Saskatchewan Class 1A driver's license.
  • Posses at least 2 years of truck driving experience.
  • Be ready to travel to the USA, if needed by the employer.
  • Possess a reasonable command of the English language.

Health Professionals


This category allows internationally-trained health professionals, who have been working in Saskatchewan for at least six months under a temporary work permit, to apply for landed immigrant status under the SINP. It is divided into three sub-categories, Physicians, Nurses and Other Health Professions.

Physicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Psychiatric Nurses, or Registered Nurses who have been working in Saskatchewan on a work permit for at least 6 months can apply for SINP as long as they have a full-time employment offer and have a letter of support from Saskatchewan Health and Regional Health Authority.


Students


This category allows foreign students who have graduated from a recognized, post-secondary educational institution in Canada and worked for at least six months for a Saskatchewan employer to apply for the provincial program.

To be eligible to apply foreign students should

  • Have graduated with a certificate, a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institution in Canada and the program should have been at least one academic year (eight months) of full-time study. 
  • Have worked for a Saskatchewan employer for a minimum of six months under a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) post-graduation work permit
  • Have a current, permanent, full-time job offer from your employer

Farmers


Farmer with proven experience in farming and substantial capital available to invest in a farming operation and who intend to purchase and operate a farming operation in Saskatchewan can apply under this category.

To be eligible farmers should have a

  • net worth of at least $500,000(CAD)
  • signed offer (with a deposit of $75,000) to purchase an existing farming operation or land for a new farming operation in Saskatchewan
  • visit Saskatchewan for at least 5 working days to conduct a comprehensive exploratory visit and attend an interview with a SINP representative
  • farm operation knowledge and experience

Family Members


Immigrant families living in Saskatchewan can sponsor their family members to live and work in the province. Supporting family members must provide settlement assistance to applicants and their dependents, including financial support, after they arrive in Saskatchewan.

In order to be eligible for this route a candidate should:

  • Be between 18 - 49 years old
  • Have a signed affidavit of support from one or more family members living in Saskatchewan province
  • Have completed post-secondary education, training, or apprenticeship of at least one year in length and have a diploma, a certificate, or a degree.
  • Have at least one year of work experience in their field of education or training.
  • Have the English language ability either to do the job you have been offered by a Saskatchewan employer or to get a job in your field of education or training.
  • Have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Saskatchewan Employer. (Live-in caregivers cannot apply under this category.) or have the intention to find full-time, permanent work in Saskatchewan  
  • Have enough money to live in the province for a short time without work after arrival, approximately $10,000 for the main applicant and $2,000 for each accompanying family member.

Spouse Immigration and Dependent immigration


Saskatchewan migration is intended to be a means for a permanent settlement in the province and a successful candidate can take their spouse/partner, conjugal partner, common-law partner and unmarried dependent children below 22 of age on their application.

Unmarried children above 22 years of age who are dependent due to being in full time education, or who are not able to work and be independent due to the mental or physical disability may also be included in the application.


Basic Features of the Visa


Saskatchewan province provides one of the best versatile Provincial nomination schemes in Canada available with the distinct sub-divisions through which applicants can migrate to Canada.

Successful applicants will be granted a permanent residency in Canada. On completion of at least 3 year residency requirement may guide to the opportunity to become Canadian national.
In the Saskatchewan nomination scheme, each stream has separate requirements but no points based evaluation is required.
