The Alberta Immigrants Nominee program is a Canadian immigration service that permits individuals to move to Canada based upon a job offer from a company in the province. Candidate’s skills and work experiences are assessed under the Alberta Provincial Nominee Programme application and their ability to adapt to life in the province. However, it is not a points-based assessment system.
The AINP is designed to support Alberta's economic growth by attracting qualified immigrants to meet the labour market needs of the province.
Nominated individuals together with their spouse and dependent children are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa through CIC as a Provincial Nominee. CIC expedites permanent resident applications from Provincial Nominees and makes final decisions on the permanent resident applications
Application Process
The Alberta Provincial Nomination scheme generally chooses a limited number of applicants to migrate to Alberta in order to meet the recognized skills shortages.
Skilled people are recruited by the approved employers and their applications are submitted to the Alberta Provincial Nomination scheme for approval. If the applicants are approved then they may be applying for a permanent resident’s visa through Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
There are four stages through which the Alberta immigration will be processed. They are discussed below:
- Employer Application Form
Employers who wish to recruit qualified people need to complete an employer application form to demonstrate the need to employ from outside the domestic workforce.
This application form is assessed by the Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry. - Submit for approval for Nominee Program
The employer’s application is reviewed and the application is recommended to the Nominee Programme.
- Offer Letter
Once the employer’s application is approved, employees intending to immigrate to Alberta can be recruited. An offer letter is issued to the applicant.
- Applying for Canadian Permanent Residency
Applicants cannot apply for the Provincial Nomination Scheme by themselves and should have a guaranteed offer of employment from an approved employer in Alberta.
On approval, applicants may then apply for the Canadian permanent residency. Applicant will be assessed based on their skills, work experience, the degree to which their qualifications meet the needs of the employer, industry standards and their ability to reside in Alberta.
Dependents
Fiancé, spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and dependent immigration are allowed to be included in this program and they can accompany the main applicant.
