Overview
An overseas company with no presence in the UK is allowed to send one employee to the UK on a Sole Representative Visa.
Requirements from the company

It must be a genuine company, incorporated overseas and established for a minimum of one year.
Sending the employee must be for the company’s benefit.
The budget allocated for UK expansion should be realistic keeping in mind the company’s size, nature of business & it’s revenue.
When the visa is granted & the employee comes to work for you in the UK, the majority of your business must always be conducted out of the UK.
Which employee qualifies as a Sole Representative?

A senior employee recruited by your company outside the UK
He or she should have been working the company for a reasonably long time
He or She should be well educated about your business.
The employee cannot be an owner or a manger & cannot own more than 30 to 35% of your business.
Spouse & Family

Employee’s family can join him as dependents
Family will be entitled to healthcare from the NHS
Children will get free education like all British children.
Visa Extension

Visa is granted for 2 years and can be extended for 3 more years.
At the end of five years in the UK as your Sole Representative, the employee may apply for settlement (permanent residence)

If the application is simple, it will take about one week to process the visa. This processing is done at the overseas British High Commission / Consulate
